the future belongs to Islam: Allāh said: * "It is He who sent His Messenger with guidance and the religion of truth to manifest it over all religion, although those who associate others with Allāh dislike it." * This noble verse gives us glad tidings that the future belongs to Islam through its dominance, manifestation, and governance over all religions. Some people might think that this was fulfilled during the time of the Prophet (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) and the rightly guided caliphs and righteous kings, but that is not the case. What was achieved was only a part of this true promise, as the Prophet (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) indicated by saying:

- "The night and day will not pass away until al-Lāt and al-ʿUzzá are worshipped again." ʿĀʾishah said: "O Messenger of Allāh, I thought when Allāh revealed * 'It is He who sent His Messenger with guidance and the religion of truth to manifest it over all religion, although those who associate others with Allāh dislike it.' * that it was complete." He said: "There will be of that what Allāh wills." The ḥadīth. "The night and day will not pass away until al-Lāt and al-ʿUzzá are worshipped again." ʿĀʾishah said: "O Messenger of Allāh, I thought when Allāh revealed * 'It is He who sent His Messenger with guidance and the religion of truth to manifest it over all religion, although those who associate others with Allāh dislike it.' * that it was complete." He said: "There will be of that what Allāh wills." The ḥadīth. It was narrated by Muslim and others, and I have documented it in "Tahdhīr al-Sājid min Ittikhādh al-Qubūr Masājid" (p. 122). Other ḥadīths have been reported that clarify the extent of Islam's manifestation and spread, leaving no room for doubt that the future belongs to Islam by the permission and success granted by Allāh.
