that ʿArāk only narrated it from Sulaymān from ʿArāk." Then he provided its isnād from him without the exception. Similarly, Muslim also recorded it (3/76-68) through the route of Khuthaym ibn ʿArāk from his father in the same manner without the addition. Al-Bukhārī also narrated it in this way. I said: But in a narration by Muslim (3/68) and al-Dāraqutnī (p. 214) from Ibn Wahb: Mukharramah informed me from his father from ʿArāk ibn Mālik with it, elevated, in the wording: "There is no charity on a slave except for the charity of al-Fiṭr." Thus, the addition is preserved, and Allāh knows best.

- "There is no retaliation in the case of a head wound." It was recorded by al-Bayhaqī (8/65) from Aḥmad ibn ʿUbayd, who narrated to us from ʿAbbās ibn al-Faḍl al-Asfaṭī, who narrated to us from Muḥammad ibn ʿAbd Allāh ibn Numayr, who narrated to us from Yūnus ibn Bukayr from Ṭalḥah ibn Yaḥyá ibn Ṭalḥah from Yaḥyá and ʿĪsá, the sons of Ṭalḥah, or one of them from Ṭalḥah, elevated. I said: And this isnād is good, its men are trustworthy, the men of Muslim, with some disagreement about some of them, except that this al-Asfaṭī, I did not find a biography for him, and al-Ṭabarānī also narrated from him, and Ibn al-Athīr mentioned no one other than al-Ṭabarānī narrating from him in "al-Lubāb"! Then I found al-Dāraqutnī saying in "Suʾālāt al-Ḥākim lahu" (p. 129): "Truthful." And Aḥmad ibn ʿUbayd is lenient in ḥadīth as mentioned in "al-Taqrīb." And it has a corroborating report from the ḥadīth of al-ʿAbbās ibn ʿAbd al-Muṭṭalib, elevated, in the wording:
