It was recorded by Ibn Saʿd (1/371), and its narrators are trustworthy except for his teacher ʿUmar ibn Ḥabīb al-ʿAdawī, who is weak as mentioned in "Taqrīb". 2 - From Abū Hurayrah, attributed to the Prophet: "He would wear wool, sit on the ground and eat on it, ride a donkey, tie up the sheep and milk it, respond to the invitation of a servant, and say: 'If I were invited to a trotter, I would respond.'" It was recorded by Ibn ʿAdī (243/2) from ʿUmar ibn Yazīd from ʿAṭāʾ from him, and he said, "This ḥadīth is not preserved, and ʿUmar Yazīd is unreliable in ḥadīth." 3 - From al-Ḥasan, attributed to the Prophet: "By Allāh, he would sit on the ground, his food would be placed on the ground, he would wear coarse clothing, ride a donkey, carry someone behind him, and by Allāh, he would lick his hand." It was recorded by Ibn al-Mubārak in "al-Zuhd" (575): Maʿmar informed us from Yaḥyā ibn al-Mukhtār from him, who is Ibn Abī al-Ḥasan al-Baṣrī.
