I said: And this chain of transmission is weak; ʿUmārah ibn Zādhān is truthful but makes many mistakes. And Muʾammal ibn Ismāʿīl is truthful but has poor memory, as mentioned in "al-Taqrīb." However, the ḥadīth has a strong supporting mursal narration from Hishām ibn Ḥassān from Bakr ibn ʿAbd Allāh al-Muzanī who said: "The Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) had a striped cloak, and when he visited his wives, he would sprinkle it with water." It was recorded by Ibn Saʿd (1/451). I said: And this is a sound mursal chain. It is likely that al-Muzanī received it from Anas, as he frequently narrated from him, and Abū al-Shaykh narrated it in "Akhlaq al-Nabī (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam)" (p. 169) through the route of ʿUthmān ibn Ḥafṣ who informed us that Salām ibn Abī Khubzah informed us from Thābit from him. And Ibn Abī Khubzah is abandoned, and al-Dhahabī mentioned him in "al-Mushtabih" under (ḥāʾ) and noted that "Khubzah" is the feminine form of bread. And ʿUthmān ibn Ḥafṣ, it appears, is al-Zuraqī, and al-Bukhārī said: "There is a problem in his isnād." Ibn Ḥibbān and Ibn ʿAbd al-Barr authenticated him, so the reliance is on the mursal with the preceding connection.

- "Among the things he would say to the servant: Do you have a need? He said: Until one day he said: O Messenger of Allāh! I have a need. He said: And what is your need? He said: My need is that you intercede for me on the Day of Judgment. He said: And who guided you to this? He said: My Lord. He said: As for that, then help me with abundant prostration." It was recorded by Aḥmad in "al-Musnad" (3/500) from Khālid—meaning: al-Wāsiṭī—who said: ʿAmr ibn Yaḥyá al-Anṣārī narrated to us from Ziyād ibn Abī Ziyād, the client of Banū Makhzūm, from a servant of the Prophet (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam)
