from Ibn al-Rabīʿ from Hishām ibn Ḥassān from Shuʿayb with it, except that he mentioned prostration instead of embracing. This isnād is good for supporting evidence, as Qays ibn al-Rabīʿ is truthful, but he changed when he grew older, and Abū Bilāl al-Ashʿarī, whose name is Mirdās, was weakened by al-Dāraqutnī and mentioned by Ibn Ḥibbān among the trustworthy. Above them are two trustworthy narrators from the men of the two Shaykhs. This supporting narration was also recorded by Abū al-Ḥasan al-Muzakkī, as noted by Ibn al-Muḥibb in his commentary on "Kitāb al-Muṣāfaḥah," and I have copied it from his manuscript. The second: Kathīr ibn ʿAbd Allāh said: I heard Anas ibn Mālik with it, without mentioning bowing and embracing. It was recorded by Ibn Shāhīn in "Rubāʿiyyātih" (172/2): narrated to us by Muḥammad ibn Zuhayr, who said: narrated to us by Mukhlid ibn Muḥammad, who said: narrated to us by Kathīr ibn ʿAbd Allāh. Kathīr is weak, as al-Dāraqutnī said, and al-Dhahabī said: "I do not see his narrations as very objectionable, and Ibn ʿAdī narrated ten ḥadīths from him and then said: 'In some of his narrations, there are things that are not preserved.'" I said: Someone like him can be used as supporting evidence, if Allāh wills, but below him, I did not find anyone who translated them. The third: al-Muhallab ibn Abī Ṣufrah from Anas, raised with the wording: "A man should not bow to another man, nor should a man kiss another man." They said: "Should a man shake hands with another man?" He said: "Yes." It was narrated by al-Ḍiyāʾ in "al-Muntaqá" (23/1) through the route of ʿAbd al-ʿAzīz ibn Abān, who narrated to us from Ibrāhīm ibn Ṭahmān from al-Muhallab with it. I said: al-Muhallab is among the trustworthy commanders, as mentioned in "al-Taqrīb," but the chain to him is weak, as ʿAbd al-ʿAzīz ibn Abān is abandoned and was declared a liar by Ibn Maʿīn and others, as the ḥāfiẓ said, so it cannot be used as evidence
