ascribed, and the last two added: "And sometimes his cloak would get caught on a tree or something, and he would not turn around, and they would laugh, for they were assured he would not turn." Ibn Abī Ḥātim said: "My father said: This is a rejected ḥadīth, and ʿAbd al-Jabbār is weak." Al-Ḥākim said: "I do not know anyone who narrated it from Muḥammad ibn al-Munkadir except ʿAbd al-Jabbār." Al-Dhahabī commented afterward: "I say: ʿAbd al-Jabbār is ruined." He said in "al-Ḍuʿafāʾ": "They declared him weak." Al-Ḥāfiẓ said: "Weak." However, the ḥadīth has a supporting narration from Dāwūd ibn Abī Hind: A man narrated to me from Ibn ʿAbbās ascribed with it and added: "And when he walked, he walked briskly without laziness." It was recorded by Ibn Saʿd (1/417). I say: Its narrators are trustworthy, narrators of Muslim, except for the man, as he was not named. ʿAwf said: "He would not laugh except with a smile, and he would not turn except completely."
