- "Whatever extends below the ankles of the lower garment is in the Fire." It was recorded by al-Ṭabarānī in "al-Muʿjam al-Kabīr" (3/138/2) from al-Yamān ibn al-Mughīrah, from ʿIkrimah, from Ibn ʿAbbās who said: The Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) said: and he mentioned it. I say: This isnād is weak because of al-Yamān, about whom al-Ḥāfiẓ said: "Weak." Al-Haythamī said in "Majmaʿ al-Zawāʾid" (5/124): "Al-Yamān is considered weak by the majority, and Ibn ʿAdī said: There is no harm in him." I say: The ḥadīth is authentic because it has many supporting narrations: 1 - From Abū Hurayrah (raḍiya Allāhu ʿanhu) in a marfūʿ form with the wording: "Whatever is below the ankles of the lower garment is in the Fire." It was recorded by al-Bukhārī (4/73), al-Nasāʾī (2/299), and Aḥmad (2/255, 287, 410, 461, 498, 504) through various chains from him. 2 - From Ḥudhayfah ibn al-Yamān in a similar marfūʿ form. It was recorded by al-Nasāʾī and Ibn Mājah (3572) with a chain of trustworthy narrators. 3 - From ʿĀʾishah (raḍiya Allāhu ʿanhā) in a marfūʿ form: "Whatever is below the ankles of the lower garment is in the Fire." It was recorded by Aḥmad (6/59, 254, 257) from Muḥammad ibn Isḥāq who said: I heard Abū Nabīh say: I heard ʿĀʾishah say: and he mentioned it. I say: This isnād is ḥasan in its supporting narrations, its narrators are trustworthy and well-known except for Abū Nabīh, who was deemed reliable
