a shaykh. Ibn ʿAdī said: "I hope there is no harm in him." Ibn Ḥibbān mentioned him in "al-Thiqāt" (6/309). I said: For someone like him, there is hesitation between weakening his ḥadīth and considering it good, and perhaps the former is more likely. This is indicated by al-Ḥāfiẓ's statement in "al-Taqrīb": "acceptable," meaning when corroborated, otherwise his ḥadīth is weak as he stated in his introduction. And Allāh knows best. He was corroborated in the supplication but not in the story. Al-Ṭabarānī narrated it in "al-Muʿjam al-Kabīr" (4/94/3710) from Khabbāb al-Khuzāʿī who said: I heard the Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) say it, and he mentioned it. Al-Haythamī said (10/180): "In it is someone I do not know." There is another authentic witness from the narration of Ibn ʿUmar (raḍiya Allāhu ʿanhumā) regarding what he (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) used to say in the evening and morning. It is produced in "al-Kalim al-Ṭayyib" with commentary number (14) and "al-Mishkāt" (ḥadīth number 2397). (Note): The addition in brackets (from his grandfather) is missing from "al-Musnad" but is confirmed by al-Bazzār. Al-Haythamī said in "Majmaʿ al-Zawāʾid" (10/136): "Aḥmad and al-Bazzār narrated it, and the isnād of al-Bazzār is connected, and its men are trustworthy, as are the men of Aḥmad. However, in my copy of 'al-Musnad': 'from Rabīḥ ibn Abī Saʿīd from his father,' while in al-Bazzār: from his father from his grandfather." I said: This is the correct version that the context necessitates, and Aḥmad's narration is an error because it implies from it
