Gabriel said to me: If you had seen me while I was taking from the sea's foam and putting it into Pharaoh's mouth, fearing that mercy might reach him. It was narrated by al-Ṭayālisī in "his Musnad" (2618): Shuʿbah narrated to us from ʿAdī ibn Thābit and ʿAṭāʾ ibn al-Sāʾib from Saʿīd ibn Jubayr from Ibn ʿAbbās who said: The Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) said: and he mentioned it. It was also narrated by al-Tirmidhī (3107), al-Ḥākim (2/340, 4/249), Aḥmad (1/240, 340), and Ibn Jarīr (17859) through other chains from Shuʿbah with similar wording, and al-Tirmidhī said: "A good, strange, and authentic ḥadīth." Al-Ḥākim said: "Authentic according to the criteria of al-Bukhārī and Muslim, except that most of Shuʿbah's companions stopped it at Ibn ʿAbbās." Al-Dhahabī agreed with him. I say: This does not affect its authenticity, as a group of trustworthy narrators elevated it, including al-Ṭayālisī as you have seen, and among them Khālid ibn al-Ḥārith with al-Tirmidhī and al-Ḥākim, and al-Naḍr ibn Shumayl also with al-Ḥākim, and Muḥammad ibn Jaʿfar - Ghandar - with Aḥmad, and it is known that the addition of a trustworthy narrator is accepted. Especially since I have found another chain for it, and a corroborating witness. As for the chain, it is narrated by Ḥammād ibn Salamah from ʿAlī ibn Zayd from Yūsuf ibn Mihrān from Ibn ʿAbbās that the Prophet ﷺ said: When Allāh drowned Pharaoh, he said: *"I believe that there is no deity except the One in whom the Children of Israel believe"* (1)
