will be lost from your good deeds. Woe to you, O nation of Muḥammad! How quickly you are destroyed! Here are the Companions of your Prophet (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) still numerous, and his garments have not yet worn out, nor have his vessels been broken. By the One in whose hand is my soul, you are either on a path more guided than the path of Muḥammad, or you are opening a door to misguidance! They said, by Allāh: O Abū ʿAbd al-Raḥmān! We only intended good. He said: How many intend good but do not achieve it. The Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) told us: (then he mentioned the ḥadīth), and by Allāh, I do not know, perhaps most of them are from among you! Then he turned away from them. ʿAmr ibn Salamah said: We saw most of those circles fighting against us on the day of Nahrawān with the Khawārij. I said: The context is from al-Dārimī and it is more complete, except that in the text of the ḥadīth he does not have: "they will pass through... like an arrow through the target." And this isnād is authentic, except that the mention of "ʿUmar ibn Yaḥyá" I suspect is a scribal error, and the correct name is "ʿAmr ibn Yaḥyá," who is ʿAmr ibn Yaḥyá ibn ʿAmr ibn Salamah ibn al-Ḥārith al-Hamdānī. This is how Ibn Abī Ḥātim presented it in his book "al-Jarḥ wa-al-Taʿdīl" (3/1/269), and he mentioned among those who narrated from him a group of trustworthy narrators, including Ibn ʿUyaynah, and he reported from Ibn Maʿīn that he said about him: "Ṣāliḥ." يضيع من حسناتكم شيء، ويحكم يا أمة محمد! ما أسرع هلكتكم! هؤلاء صحابة نبيكم ﷺ متوافرون، وهذه ثيابه لم تبل، وآنيته لم تكسر، والذي نفسي بيده إنكم لعلى ملة هي أهدى من ملة محمد، أو مفتتحوا باب ضلالة؟ ! قالوا والله: يا أبا عبد الرحمن! ما أردنا إلا الخير، قال: وكم من مريد للخير لن يصيبه، إن رسول الله ﷺ حدثنا: (فذكر الحديث) ، وايم الله ما أدري لعل أكثرهم منكم! ثم تولى عنهم، فقال عمرو بن سلمة: فرأينا عامة أولئك الحلق يطاعنونا يوم النهروان مع الخوارج ". قلت: والسياق للدارمي وهو أتم، إلا أنه ليس عنده في متن الحديث: " يمرقون... من الرمية ". وهذا إسناد صحيح، إلا أن قوله: " عمر بن يحيى " أظنه خطأ من النساخ، والصواب: " عمرو بن يحيى "، وهو عمرو بن يحيى بن عمرو بن سلمة ابن الحارث الهمداني (١) . كذا ساقه ابن أبي حاتم في كتابه " الجرح والتعديل "(٣ / ١ / ٢٦٩) ، وذكر في الرواة عنه جمعا من الثقات منهم ابن عيينة، وروى عن ابن معين أنه قال فيه: " صالح ". وهكذا ذكره على الصواب في الرواة عن أبيه، فقال (٤ / ٢ / ١٧٦) : " يحيى بن عمرو بن سلمة الهمداني، ويقال: الكندي. روى عن أبيه روى عنه شعبة والثوري والمسعودي وقيس بن الربيع وابنه عمرو بن يحيى ". ولم يذكر فيه جرحا ولا تعديلا، ويكفي في تعديله رواية شعبة عنه، فإنه كان ينتقي الرجال الذين كانوا يروي عنهم، كما هو مذكور في ترجمته، ولا يبعد أن يكون في
