I said: It has a similar shortened chain that will appear with the wording: "If you were to be" under number (1976) with a witness from the ḥadīth of Anas appearing under number (1965).
"By the One in whose hand is my soul, it is as if you are shooting them with arrows with what you say to them in poetry." It was recorded by Aḥmad (3/456): Abū al-Yamān narrated to us, saying: Shuʿayb informed us from al-Zuhrī, who said: Abū Bakr ibn ʿAbd al-Raḥmān ibn al-Ḥārith ibn Hishām told me that Marwān ibn al-Ḥakam informed him that ʿAbd al-Raḥmān ibn al-Aswad ibn ʿAbd Yaghūth informed him that Ubayy ibn Kaʿb informed him that the Prophet (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) said: "Among poetry is wisdom." And Bashīr ibn ʿAbd al-Raḥmān ibn Kaʿb used to narrate that Kaʿb ibn Mālik used to narrate that the Prophet (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) said: and he mentioned it. The men of its isnād are all men of al-Bukhārī except for Bashīr ibn ʿAbd al-Raḥmān ibn Kaʿb, and I did not find anyone who declared him trustworthy except Ibn Ḥibbān. Al-Bukhārī mentioned in "al-Tārīkh" and Ibn Abī Ḥātim in "al-Jarḥ" that al-Zuhrī and Hishām ibn ʿUrwah narrated from him, and al-Ḥāfiẓ did not include him in "al-Taʿjīl" even though he is according to his criteria. Al-Zuhrī narrated from ʿAbd al-Raḥmān ibn Kaʿb and from ʿAbd al-Raḥmān ibn ʿAbd Allāh ibn Kaʿb, both of them from Kaʿb with a similar narration. This has been previously explained in: "Indeed, the believer strives with his sword and his tongue." It has been mentioned under number (1631). It has a witness from the ḥadīth of Anas with the wording: "Remove it, O ʿUmar! For it is quicker among them than the shooting of arrows." I have recorded it in "Mukhtaṣar al-Shamāʾil al-Muḥammadiyyah" under number (210).
- "By the One in whose hand is my soul, if you did not sin, Allāh would remove you and bring a people who would sin, then seek forgiveness from Allāh, and He would forgive them."
