- "He would take the hair from the side of the camel from the spoils and then say: I have no more right to it than any of you. Then he would say: Beware of misappropriation, for it is a disgrace for its owner on the Day of Resurrection. Return the thread and the needle and anything above that, and strive for the sake of Allāh, whether near or far, in times of ease and hardship, for jihād is a gate from the gates of Paradise, and it saves its owner from worry and distress. Establish the limits of Allāh among those near and far, and do not let the blame of a critic prevent you from [doing] what is for Allāh." Narrated by ʿAbd Allāh ibn Aḥmad (5/330) and al-Ḍiyāʾ in "al-Mukhtārah" (67/1) from ʿAbd Allāh ibn Sālim al-Maflūj, who reported from ʿUbaydah ibn al-Aswad, from al-Qāsim ibn al-Walīd, from Abū Ṣādiq, from Rabīʿah ibn Nādhir, from ʿUbādah ibn al-Ṣāmit, as a marfūʿ ḥadīth. Ibn Mājah (2540) has the last part of it which includes the establishment of the limits. I say: This isnād is good, its narrators are trustworthy except for Rabīʿah, who was only deemed reliable by al-Ḥāfiẓ following Ibn Ḥibbān. However, it was narrated by Aḥmad (5/316 and 326) and Ibn ʿAsākir (8/428/1) through the route of al-Miqdām ibn Maʿdīkarib, who informed us from ʿUbādah ibn al-Ṣāmit. The route of al-Miqdām and its wording will appear under number (1972).

- "Take the milk of cows, for they graze on every kind of tree, and it is a cure for every disease." Narrated by al-Ḥākim (4/403) through the route of Isrāʾīl, from al-Rukayn ibn al-Rabīʿ, from Qays ibn Muslim, from Ṭāriq ibn Shihāb, from ʿAbd Allāh ibn Masʿūd, as a marfūʿ ḥadīth. Al-Ḥākim said: "The isnād is authentic." Al-Dhahabī agreed with him
