"truthful, but he may err." He was followed by Isḥāq ibn ʿAbdullāh ibn Abī Furwah from Saʿīd ibn Abī Saʿīd with it, except that he said: "and he scattered [the dust] in front of him, to his right, and to his left." It was recorded by al-Ājurī in "al-Sharīʿah" (p. 343). But this Ibn Abī Furwah is abandoned. The ḥadīth has a supporting narration from Abū Umāmah, elevated, similar to it, recorded in "al-Mishkāt" (5556).

- "I asked Gabriel (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam): Which of the two terms did Mūsá (raḍiya Allāhu ʿanhu) complete? He said: He completed the longer and more complete of them." Narrated by Abū Yaʿlá (2/634), Ibn Jarīr (20/44), al-Ḥākim (2/407), and Ibn ʿAsākir (17/158/1) from Ibrāhīm ibn Yaḥyá ibn Abī Yaʿqūb from al-Ḥakam ibn Abān from ʿIkrimah from Ibn ʿAbbās who said: The Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) said: and he mentioned it, and al-Ḥākim said: "Authentic." al-Dhahabī refuted it by saying: "I say: Ibrāhīm is unknown." I say: This man was omitted from the isnād of Abū Yaʿlá and his narration, so al-Haythamī proceeded according to its apparent meaning and said in "Majmaʿ" (7/87): "Narrated by Abū Yaʿlá and its men are the men of the authentic collections except for al-Ḥakam ibn Abān, who is trustworthy, and it was narrated by al-Bazzār."
