ʿIkrimah ibn ʿAmmār disagreed with him, saying: from Yaḥyá ibn Abī Kathīr, from Abū Salamah, from Abū Hurayrah, in a marfūʿ form similar to it, without the second part. It was recorded by al-ʿUqaylī in "al-Ḍuʿafāʾ" (206) from ʿAbd Allāh ibn Ziyād al-Yamāmī: ʿIkrimah ibn ʿAmmār narrated to me. And he said: "ʿAbd Allāh ibn Ziyād, according to al-Bukhārī, is munkar al-ḥadīth." I said: but he was not alone in this, as al-ʿUqaylī said: "ʿAfīf ibn Sālim narrated it from ʿIkrimah in this way." I said: and ʿAfīf is truthful as mentioned in "al-Taqrīb," and perhaps al-Bayhaqī narrated it through his route, as al-Mundhirī said in "al-Targhīb" (3/50): "al-Bayhaqī narrated it with an isnād that is acceptable, then he said: it is strange with this isnād, and it is only known through ʿAbd Allāh ibn Ziyād from ʿIkrimah, meaning ibn ʿAmmār. He said: and this ʿAbd Allāh ibn Ziyād is munkar al-ḥadīth." Then I found another corroborator for it, as Ibn al-Jārūd narrated in "al-Muntaqá" (647) through the route of al-Naḍr ibn Muḥammad who said: ʿIkrimah ibn ʿAmmār narrated it to us. And al-Naḍr ibn Muḥammad, who is Abū Muḥammad al-Jurashī al-Yamāmī, is trustworthy among the men of the two Shaykhs, thus this corroboration removed the strangeness and the uniqueness of ʿAbd Allāh ibn Ziyād, and the rest of its narrators are trustworthy, the men of Muslim, except that they criticized the narration of this ʿIkrimah from Yaḥyá ibn Abī Kathīr, saying: it is muddled in his narration from him. The last part of the ḥadīth has a witness from the ḥadīth of Saʿīd ibn Zayd with the wording: "The worst form of usury is defaming reputations."
