I said: and both are trustworthy, with slight weakness in the first of them. Al-Haythamī said about the ḥadīth in "al-Majmaʿ" (5/236): "It was narrated by al-Ṭabarānī in 'al-Kabīr' and 'al-Awsaṭ' and by Abū Yaʿlá, and its narrators are trustworthy."

"There will be a truce with treachery, then there will be callers to misguidance," he said: "If you see a caliph on earth that day, adhere to him, even if he beats your body and takes your wealth. If you do not see him, flee across the earth, even if you die while biting the root of a tree." It was recorded by Abū Dāwūd (4247) and Aḥmad (5/403) through the route of Ṣakhr ibn Badr al-ʿAjlī from Subayʿ, who said: "They sent me from water to Kūfah to buy animals, and we came to al-Kanāsah, where there was a man with a gathering. My companion went to the animals, but I went to him, and it was Ḥudhayfah. I heard him say: The Companions of the Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) used to ask him about good, but I asked him about evil. I said: O Messenger of Allāh, will there be evil after this good, as there was evil before? He said: Yes. I said: What is the protection from it? He said: The sword, I suppose.
