it was recorded by al-Ḥākim through the route of ʿItāb ibn Muḥammad ibn Shawdhb, Kaʿb ibn ʿAbd al-Raḥmān narrated to us... I said: This Kaʿb was mentioned by Ibn Abī Ḥātim (3/2/162) without any criticism or commendation. And ʿItāb ibn Muḥammad ibn Shawdhb is unknown to me.

- "Any shepherd who is entrusted with a flock and deceives it is in the Fire." It was recorded by Aḥmad (5/25) and Muslim (6/9) without the wording from Suwādah ibn Abī al-Aswad from his father from Maʿqil ibn Yasār who said: The Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) said: and he mentioned it. Then Aḥmad and Muslim, as well as al-Bukhārī in "al-Aḥkām," narrated it through the route of al-Ḥasan al-Baṣrī from Maʿqil ibn Yasār in a more complete form. Refer to it in "al-Targhīb" (3/141). I intended to extract it from this route because it is free from the ʿanʿanah of al-Ḥasan al-Baṣrī, thus it is a strong corroboration for him, and all praise is due to Allāh for His guidance.

- "Any servant who commits something Allāh has forbidden, then the prescribed punishment is carried out on him, that sin is expiated for him." It was recorded by al-Ḥākim (4/388) with this wording, and al-Dārimī (2/182), Aḥmad (5/214 and 215), and al-Ṭabarānī (3728, 3731, and 3732) through the route of Usāmah ibn Zayd that Muḥammad ibn al-Munkadir narrated to him that Ibn Khuzaymah ibn Thābit narrated to him from his father Khuzaymah ibn Thābit (raḍiya Allāhu ʿanhu) that the Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) said: and he mentioned it. And he said: "The isnād is authentic." al-Dhahabī agreed with him
