I said: its isnād is authentic according to the criteria of al-Bukhārī and Muslim. It was also recorded by al-Ḥākim (3/109-110) through the route of Muḥammad ibn Salamah ibn Kuhayl from his father from Abū al-Ṭufayl from Ibn Wāthilah, who heard it from Zayd ibn Arqam, in an extended form similar to the narration of Ḥabīb, but without the phrase: "O Allāh, befriend...". Al-Ḥākim said: "Authentic according to the criteria of al-Bukhārī and Muslim." Al-Dhahabī refuted it by saying: "I said: They did not record from Muḥammad, and al-Saʿdī deemed him weak." I said: He contradicted the two previous trustworthy narrators by adding Ibn Wāthilah to the isnād, which is one of his errors. He was followed by Ḥakīm ibn Jubayr—who is weak—narrating from Abū al-Ṭufayl in it. It was recorded by al-Ṭabarānī (4971). The second: from Maymūn Abū ʿAbd Allāh in a manner similar to the ḥadīth of Ḥabīb. It was recorded by Aḥmad (4/372) and al-Ṭabarānī (5092) through the route of Abū ʿUbayd from him. Then it was recorded through the route of Shuʿbah and al-Nasāʾī (p. 16) through the route of ʿAwf, both from Maymūn, but without the phrase: "O Allāh, befriend". However, Shuʿbah added: "Maymūn said: Some of the people told me from Zayd that the Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) said: O Allāh...". Al-Haythamī said: "It was narrated by Aḥmad and al-Bazzār, and in it is Maymūn Abū ʿAbd Allāh al-Baṣrī, whom Ibn Ḥibbān deemed trustworthy, but a group considered him weak."
