"authentic according to the criteria of Muslim." al-Dhahabī agreed with him, and it is as they said. And Ibn Abī Ḥātim critiqued it (2/232-233) for being mursal. Among them is from Abū Hurayrah and others, and it has passed under number (1327).

"The people of the Fire are every arrogant, obstinate, and proud person who is greedy and prevents [others from good], and the people of Paradise are the weak and overpowered." It was narrated by al-Ḥākim (2/499) and Aḥmad (2/114) through the route of ʿAbd Allāh (who is Ibn al-Mubārak), who informed us that Mūsá ibn ʿAlī ibn Rabāḥ heard his father narrate from ʿAbd Allāh ibn ʿAmr ibn al-ʿĀṣ from the Prophet (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam), and he mentioned it, and the context is Aḥmad's. Al-Ḥākim said: "authentic according to the criteria of Muslim." al-Dhahabī agreed with him, and it is as they said. Then Aḥmad said (2/169): Abū ʿAbd al-Raḥmān narrated to us, Mūsá narrated to us with it in a shortened form with the wording: "He said when mentioning the people of the Fire: every arrogant, obstinate, and proud person who is greedy and prevents [others from good]." And its isnād is also authentic. Al-Mundhirī said in "al-Targhīb" (4/17): "And from Surāqah ibn Mālik ibn Juʿshum (raḍiya Allāhu ʿanhu) that the Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) said: O Surāqah, shall I not inform you of the people of Paradise and the people of the Fire? I said: Yes, O Messenger of Allāh. He said: As for the people of the Fire, they are every arrogant...," and he mentioned it without saying: "greedy and prevents [others from good]," and he said: "It was narrated by al-Ṭabarānī in al-Kabīr and al-Awsaṭ with a good isnād, and al-Ḥākim said: authentic according to the criteria of Muslim." I said: It was narrated by al-Ṭabarānī in "al-Kabīr" (6589) and al-Ḥākim (3/619) through the route of ʿAbd Allāh ibn Ṣāliḥ who narrated to me from Mūsá ibn ʿAlī ibn Rabāḥ al-Lakhmī from his father from Surāqah ibn Mālik ibn Juʿshum with it. And he and al-Dhahabī remained silent about it, and this is more appropriate than what al-Mundhirī transmitted from him that he said:
