from another group's narration about him, and no criticism or praise was mentioned regarding him. Ibn Ḥibbān mentioned him in "al-Thiqāt" (1/43) and included this ḥadīth for him. al-Ajlaḥ, who is Ibn ʿAbd Allāh al-Kindī, is considered truthful as stated in "al-Taqrīb."

"He gets angry with me because I cannot find anything to give him. Whoever among you asks while he has an uqiyyah or its equivalent has asked insistently." It was recorded by Mālik (2/999/11), and from him by Abū Dāwūd (1627) and al-Nasāʾī (1/363) through the route of Zayd ibn Aslam from ʿAṭāʾ ibn Yasār from a man of Banū Asad who said: "I and my family settled at Baqīʿ al-Gharqad. My family said to me: Go to the Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) and ask him for something for us to eat, and they began to mention their needs. So I went to the Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) and found a man asking him, and the Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) was saying: 'I do not find anything to give you.' The man turned away from him angrily, saying: By my life, you give to whomever you wish. The Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) then said... (and he mentioned it)." The Asadī said: "I said: A milch camel of ours is better than an uqiyyah" - Mālik said: "An uqiyyah is forty dirhams" - he said: "So I returned and did not ask him. Later, barley and raisins were brought to the Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam), and he distributed them to us until Allāh enriched us." I say: This chain of narration is authentic, and the anonymity of the Companion does not harm it. Sufyān followed him from Zayd ibn Aslam with a shortened version: "Whoever asks while he has an uqiyyah or its equivalent has asked insistently." It was recorded by Aḥmad (4/36 and 5/430) and Abū ʿUbayd in "al-Gharīb" (31/2). Aḥmad also has another route (4/138) through ʿAbd al-Ḥamīd ibn Jaʿfar from his father from a man of Muzaynah, whose mother said to him:
