It was recorded by Aḥmad (3/35 and 64) and Muslim (5/142) through the route of Shuʿbah from Khalīd ibn Jaʿfar from Abū Naḍrah from Abū Saʿīd al-Khudrī from the Prophet (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam). Muslim does not include "by which he will be recognized," which is a narration found in Aḥmad. ʿAlī ibn Zayd followed him from Abū Naḍrah with it, except that he said: "according to his treachery" instead of "by which he will be recognized." It was recorded by al-Ṭayālisī (2156) and Aḥmad (3/7 and 61), and in one narration (3/19) he added: "Indeed, the greatest treachery is the treachery of a leader of the masses." It is found with al-Ṭayālisī from this route, and with Muslim (5/143) through the route of al-Mustamir ibn al-Rayyān: Abū Naḍrah narrated it. The ḥadīth has a corroborating narration from Ibn ʿUmar, raised similarly. It was recorded by Aḥmad (2/49): Ibrāhīm ibn Wahb ibn al-Shahīd narrated to us, my father narrated to us from Anas ibn Sīrīn from him. I do not know this Ibrāhīm and his father, and al-Ḥāfiẓ did not mention them in "al-Taʿjīl"! Then he recorded it (2/70 and 126) through the route of Bishr ibn Ḥarb from him, raised similarly to the ḥadīth of al-Mustamir ibn al-Rayyān. Its chain is good in follow-ups. It was recorded by al-Bukhārī (4/342), Muslim, and Aḥmad (2/116) through the route of ʿAbd Allāh ibn Dīnār from him, raised with the wording of the translation, without the phrase: "at his posterior."
