Ibn Abī ʿĀṣim also narrated it (Q 20/1) and al-Ḥākim (4/605) through the route of Muḥammad ibn ʿAmr from Abū Salamah from Abū Hurayrah with it raised [to the Prophet], and he said: "Authentic according to the conditions of Muslim." Al-Dhahabī agreed with him, but it is only ḥasan. He also provided a supporting evidence from the ḥadīth of ʿAbd Allāh ibn Muḥammad ibn ʿAqīl from al-Ṭufayl ibn Abī ibn Kaʿb from his father with it raised [to the Prophet] similarly in a ḥadīth that includes: "He was the first to lead the Arabs to idol worship." Al-Ḥākim also narrated it and said: "Authentic isnād." Al-Dhahabī also agreed with him, but it is only ḥasan due to the well-known disagreement regarding Ibn ʿAqīl. There is a concise supporting evidence with the wording: "The first to alter the religion of Abraham was ʿAmr ibn Luḥayy ibn Qamʿah ibn Khindif, the father of Khuzāʿah." Ibn Abī ʿĀṣim narrated it (23/1) and al-Ṭabarānī in "al-Kabīr" (No. 10808) and "al-Awsaṭ" (202 - my numbering) from Ibn Abī Dhīʾb from Ṣāliḥ, the client of al-Tuʾamah, from Ibn ʿAbbās who said: The Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) said. And this isnād is ḥasan at least in terms of supporting evidence.
