- "Sihān, Jīhān, the Euphrates, and the Nile are all from the rivers of Paradise." Narrated by Muslim (8/149), Aḥmad (2/289 and 440), and Abū Bakr al-Abharī in "al-Fawāʾid al-Muntaqāh" (143/1) and al-Khaṭīb (1/54-55) through the route of Ḥafṣ ibn ʿĀṣim from Abū Hurayrah as marfūʿ. There is another route with the wording: "Four rivers flowed from Paradise: the Euphrates, the Nile, Sihān, and Jīhān."

- "Four rivers flowed from Paradise: the Euphrates, the Nile, Sihān, and Jīhān." Narrated by Aḥmad (2/261) and Abū Yaʿlá in his Musnad (4/1416 Islamic Library Edition) and al-Khaṭīb in "Tārīkh" (1/44, 8/185) from Muḥammad ibn ʿAmr from Abū Salamah from him as marfūʿ. This is a good isnād. There is a third route, extracted by al-Khaṭīb (1/54) through the route of Idrīs al-Awdī from his father as marfūʿ in a shortened form with the wording: (Two rivers from Paradise are the Nile and the Euphrates)
