so they laid me down without force or pressure. One of them said to his companion: Split his chest. One of them leaned toward my chest and split it, as I perceived, without blood or pain. He said to him: Remove the rancor and envy, so they extracted something resembling a leech and discarded it. He then said to him: Insert compassion and mercy, and there appeared something like what was removed, resembling silver. Then he shook the big toe of my right foot and said: Rise and be at peace. I returned with a tenderness toward the young and mercy for the old. Al-Haythamī said (8/223): "Its narrators are trustworthy, and Ibn Ḥibbān declared them reliable." I said: Ibn Ḥibbān's accreditation is often lenient, as we have pointed out repeatedly. Therefore, al-Dhahabī included in "al-Mīzān" Muḥammad ibn Muʿādh ibn Muḥammad ibn Abī ibn Kaʿb from his father from his grandfather, and from his son Muʿādh. Ibn al-Madīnī said: "We do not know this Muḥammad, nor his father, nor his grandfather in narration. This isnād is unknown." Al-Ḥāfiẓ Ibn Kathīr attributed this ḥadīth of his father only to Ibn ʿAsākir (2/226)! In the chapter, there is also from Anas that the Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) was visited by Gabriel while he was playing with the boys. He took him, laid him down, split his heart, extracted a clot from it, and said: This is the portion of Satan from you. Then he washed it in a basin of gold with Zamzam water, then sealed it and returned it to its place. The boys ran to his mother—meaning his wet nurse—and said: Muḥammad has been killed. They met him, and his color had changed. Anas said: I used to see the mark of that stitching on his chest. It was recorded by Muslim (1/101-102), Aḥmad (3/121, 149, 288), and al-Ājurī also in "al-Sharīʿah" p. 437 from the path of Ḥammād ibn Salamah who narrated from Thābit al-Bannānī from him. There is another corroborating report for the first part of the ḥadīth which follows after it.
فأضجعاني بلا قصر ولا هصر: وقال أحدهما لصاحبه: افلق صدره، فهوى أحدهما إلى صدري ففلقها فيما أرى بلا دم ولا وجع. فقال له: أخرج الغل والحسد، فأخرجا شيئا كهيئة العلقة، ثم نبذها فطرحها. فقال له: أدخل الرأفة والرحمة، فإذا مثل الذي أخرج يشبه الفضة. ثم هز إبهام رجلي اليمنى ثم فقال: اغد واسلم. فرجعت بها أغدو رقة على الصغير، ورحمة للكبير ". قال الهيثمي (٨ / ٢٢٣): " ورجاله ثقات وثقهم ابن حبان ". قلت: توثيق ابن حبان فيه تساهل كثير كما نبهنا عليه مرارا، ولذلك فقد أورد الذهبي في " الميزان " محمد بن معاذ بن محمد بن أبي بن كعب عن أبيه عن جده قال. وعن ابنه معاذ قال ابن المديني: " لا نعرف محمد هذا ولا أباه ولا جده في الرواية. وهذا إسناد مجهول ". وعزا الحافظ بن كثير (٢ / ٢٢٦) حديث أبي هذا لابن عساكر فقط! وفي الباب عن أنس أيضا أن رسول الله ﷺ أتاه جبريل وهو يلعب مع الغلمان، فأخذه فصرعه، فشق عن قلبه، واستخرج القلب، واستخرج منه علقة، فقال: هذا حظ الشيطان منك، ثم غسله في طست من ذهب بماء زمزم، ثم لأمه ثم أعاده في مكانه. وجاء الغلمان يسعون إلى أمه - يعني ظئره - فقالوا: إن محمد قد قتل، فاستقبلوه وهو منتقع اللون. قال أنس: وقد كنت أرى أثر ذلك المخيط في صدره. أخرجه مسلم (١ / ١٠١ - ١٠٢) وأحمد (٣ / ١٢١ و١٤٩ و ٢٨٨) والآجري أيضا في " الشريعة " ص (٤٣٧) من طريق حماد بن سلمة حدثنا ثابت البناني عنه. وللطرف الأول من الحديث شاهد آخر وهو الآتي بعده.
