except that it might be this Ṣābūnī, for he imitated him precisely, claiming, as mentioned before, that his abridgment contains only authentic ḥadīths! However, he surpasses him in his self-admiration and arrogance, boasting that he is a professor of tafsīr at the College of Sharīʿah and Islamic Studies at King Abdulaziz University in Mecca, as he describes himself in his books. He harbors intense hatred for the people of ḥadīth and those who practice it, who are called in some countries "Salafis," and he bears the worst malice against them. This is evident from what he filled his booklet with, which he unjustly titled "The Correct Prophetic Guidance in Tarāwīḥ Prayer," for he authored it only to refute the Salafis who revived—among other things—the Prophet's (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) sunnah of performing eleven rakʿahs in Tarāwīḥ prayer. If only it were a scholarly refutation, then we could say: he has his opinion and ijtihād—if he indeed has an opinion and ijtihād! But he made it—Allāh knows best—a pretext to attack them, to satisfy his own spite, and to quench his thirst by insulting and slandering them. He labels them as "pseudo-Salafis" (p. 35) and repeats this in various places (pp. 77 and 138), as "ignorant" (p. 75), as having "poor understanding and dull minds" (p. 80), as "pretenders who overstep the scholars," as "misleading the righteous predecessors" (p. 89), repeating this in more than one place, and as "pretenders of knowledge" (p. 130)! And other such terms that reveal to the discerning person the malice, envy, and ill thoughts this man harbors against Muslims. Allāh is his reckoner, and it is not my concern to respond to him in these words, for the matter is as Allāh, the Exalted, said: "Indeed, Allāh defends those who have believed" (Al-Ḥajj, 38). However, I wish to clarify to the people that he is the pretender of knowledge so that they are not deceived by him and his writings, which overflow with compounded ignorance, as I have seen in his previous actions in "his abridgment." في ذلك إلا أن يكون الصابوني هذا، فإنه قلده حذو القذة بالقذة، فادعى كما سبق بأن مختصره ليس فيه إلا الأحاديث الصحيحة! إلا أنه يزيد عليه بإعجابه بنفسه وغروره بأنه أستاذ التفسير بكلية الشريعة والدراسات الإسلامية في جامعة الملك عبد العزيز بمكة المكرمة كما يصف نفسه به في كتبه. وبأنه يضمر لأهل الحديث والعاملين به الذين يُسمَّوْن في بعض البلاد بـ (السلفيين) أشد البغض، ويحقد عليهم أسوأ الحقد. يدلك على ذلك ما سود به كتيبه الذي سماه بغير حق أيضاً "الهدي النبوي الصحيح في صلاة التراويح"، فإنه ما ألفه إلا للرد على السلفيين الذين أحيوا -فيما أحيوا- سنة النبي ﷺ في صلاة التراويح إحدى عشرة ركعة. وليته كان رداً علمياً، إذن لقلنا: له رأيه واجتهاده -إن كان له رأي واجتهاد! - ولكنه جعله -والله أعلم- ذريعة لينال منهم، ويشفي بذلك غيظ نفسه، ويروي غليل صدره بسبهم وشتمهم والافتراء عليهم. فهو يلقبهم بـ "المتسلفين" (ص ٣٥) ويكرر ذلك في غير ما موضع (ص ٧٧ و١٣٨) وبـ "الجاهلين" (ص ٧٥) وبـ "سوء الفهم وغباء الذهن" (ص ٨٠) وبـ "الأدعياء المتطاولين على العلماء"، وبـ "تضليل السلف الصالح" (ص ٨٩) ويكرر هذا في غير ما مكان واحد، وبـ "أدعياء العلم" (ص ١٣٠)! إلى غير ذلك من الألفاظ التي تنبئ العاقل على ما انطوت عليه نفس هذا الرجل من الغل والحسد وسوء الظن بالمسلمين. فالله ﷾ حسيبه، وليس من همي أن أرد عليه في كلماته هذه، فإن الأمر كما قال تعالى: ﴿إِنَّ اللَّهَ يُدَافِعُ عَنِ الَّذِينَ آَمَنُوا﴾. ولكني أريد أن أبين للناس أنه هو الدعي للعلم لكي لا يغتروا به وبكتاباته التي تطفح بالجهل المركب كما رأيت فيما تقدم صنيعه في "مختصره". وأصرح من ذلك دلالة وأكشف لخزيه وعاره أنه زين الصفحة الأولى من
