narrated by a group from him, but he did not mention any criticism, commendation, or death, so he is unknown in status. Therefore, Ibn Ḥudhlam is preferred over him, as he is truthful according to al-Nasāʾī. Among the interesting aspects of its isnād is that it is narrated by four Companions, some from others. The ḥadīth was mentioned by al-Mundhirī in "al-Targhīb" (1/41-42) from the narration of Abū Ayyūb al-Anṣārī, and he said: "It was narrated by al-Ṭabarānī in 'al-Kabīr' and its narrators are trustworthy." It was also mentioned by al-Haythamī in "al-Majmaʿ" (1/170), but he said: "Its men are reliable." It has a corroborating narration by Kathīr ibn Jaʿfar from Ibn Lahīʿah from Abū Qabīl. ʿAbd Allāh ibn ʿAmr told me that Muʿādh ibn Jabal said: "The Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) came out to us and said," and he mentioned it. It was recorded by al-Daylamī in "Musnad al-Firdaws" (1/1/38 - in summary) through Abū al-Shaykh from him with it. Al-Ḥāfiẓ said in his "Mukhtaṣar": "I said: Abū Qabīl is weak, as are Ibn Lahīʿah and Kathīr ibn Jaʿfar." I said: I did not find anyone who weakened Kathīr ibn Jaʿfar, and Ibn Abī Ḥātim mentioned him (3/2/150) with narrations from a group about him and did not mention any criticism or commendation. Then I saw Ibn Abī Ḥātim mentioned the ḥadīth in "al-ʿIlal" (1/469-470) through another chain from Sulaymān ibn ʿAbd al-Raḥmān al-Dimashqī with it, except that he said: Muʿāwiyah ibn Ṣāliḥ narrated to us from Muḥammad ibn Ḥarb from Buḥayr ibn Saʿd with it. Muḥammad ibn Ḥarb was mentioned instead of Ibrāhīm ibn Abī al-ʿAbbās, and Ibn Ḥumayr was omitted from it. He said about his father: "This is a false ḥadīth." I did not find the reason for its falseness, especially with the reliability of its narrators, particularly from the first chain and the mentioned corroboration. It has another corroboration, narrated by Ibn Lahīʿah from ʿAbd Allāh (in one narration: ʿAbd Allāh told me) ibn Hubayrah from ʿAbd Allāh ibn Marīj al-Khawlānī who said: I heard Abū Qays, the freed slave of ʿAmr ibn al-ʿĀṣ, say: I heard ʿAbd Allāh ibn ʿAmr say:
برواية جمع عنه، ولكنه لم يذكر فيه جرحا ولا تعديلا ولا وفاة، فهو مجهول الحال، فيقدمعليه ابن حذلم فإنه صدوق كما قال النسائي. ومن لطائف إسناده أنه من رواية أربعة من الصحابة بعضهم عن بعض. والحديث أورده المنذري في " الترغيب " (١ /٤١ - ٤٢) من رواية أبي أيوب الأنصاري وقال: " رواه الطبراني في " الكبير " ورواة ثقات ". وكذلك أورده الهيثمي في " المجمع " (١ / ١٧٠) إلا أنه قال: " ورجاله موثقون ". وله شاهد يرويه كثير بن جعفر عن ابن لهيعة عن أبي قبيل حدثني عبد الله بن عمرو أن معاذ بن جبل قال: " خرج علينا رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم فقال " فذكره. أخرجه الديلمي في " مسند الفردوس " (١ / ١ / ٣٨ - مختصره) من طريق أبي الشيخ عنه به. وقال الحافظ في " مختصره ": " قلت: أبو قبيل ضعيف، وكذا ابن لهيعة وكثير بن جعفر ". قلت: كثير بن جعفر لم أجد من ضعفه، وقد ترجمه ابن أبي حاتم (٣ / ٢ / ١٥٠) برواية جماعة عنه ولم يذكر فيه جرحا ولا تعديلا. ثم رأيت ابن أبي حاتم أورد الحديث في " العلل " (١ / ٤٦٩ - ٤٧٠) من طريق أخرى عن سليمان بن عبد الرحمن الدمشقي به إلا أنه قال: حدثنا معاوية بن صالح عن محمد بن حرب عن بحير بن سعد به. فذكر محمد بن حرب مكان إبراهيم بن أبي العباس، وأسقط منه ابن حمير. وقال عن أبيه.
