it was weakened by Aḥmad and a group, and Abū Ḥātim said its place is truthfulness, and al-Bukhārī said: "His ḥadīth is acceptable." The reason for the support is that in the isnād of al-Ṭabarānī in "al-Awsaṭ," Yazīd ibn Sinān is not present, so he is in the isnād of his "al-Kabīr," resulting in the isnād being different from that of "al-Awsaṭ." And it was not solely narrated by al-Shādhkūnī. And Allāh knows best. The ḥadīth is authentic in any case, for it has numerous corroborations from the ḥadīth of Abū Hurayrah in Muslim, Abū ʿAwānah, and others, and Ibn Umm Maktūm, the blind man who is the subject of the story, from his paths in Abū Dāwūd and others, and it is included in "Ṣaḥīḥ Abū Dāwūd" (561).

"When you hear of an army that has been swallowed up nearby, then the Hour has overshadowed." It was narrated by Aḥmad (6/378) and al-Ḥumaydī (351), and the context is from al-Ḥumaydī, who said: "Sufyān narrated to us, saying: Muḥammad ibn Isḥāq narrated to us that he heard Muḥammad ibn Ibrāhīm al-Taymī narrate from Buqayrah, the wife of al-Qaʿqāʿ ibn Abī Ḥadrad al-Aslamī, who said: 'I heard the Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) on the pulpit saying: O people! When you hear...'" I said: This isnād is good; its men are trustworthy, the men of the two Shaykhs, except for Ibn Isḥāq, who is good in ḥadīth when his tadlīs is avoided, as here he explicitly stated the narration, which is one of the benefits of al-Ḥumaydī, may Allāh have mercy on him, rather than Aḥmad. Therefore, al-Haythamī criticized it for the ʿanʿanah, and al-Munāwī said in his commentary on "Jāmiʿ al-Suyūṭī": "He indicated its goodness, and it is as he said, for the most that can be said is that it contains Ibn Isḥāq, who is trustworthy but a mudallis." Al-Haythamī said: "And the rest of the men of Aḥmad's isnād are the men of the Ṣaḥīḥ." I said: It is strange to say: "And it is as he said..." for the ʿanʿanah of one known for tadlīs is a defect in the ḥadīth that prevents it from being considered good, as is well known to those familiar with this noble science. And Sufyān is Ibn ʿUyaynah, and he was followed by Salamah ibn al-Faḍl from Aḥmad.
