and Maʿdī is Abū Zumʿah, a Companion of the Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam), who said: I heard my father, Lāhiz ibn Qurayṭ ibn Maʿdī ibn Rafāʿah, from his father, from Abū Rumthah, in a marfūʿ manner. It was recorded by Ibn ʿAsākir (18/6/2). This isnād is obscure, and I did not find a biography for them, except for Abū Rumthah.

"Worship Allāh and do not associate anything with Him." He said: "O Prophet of Allāh, give me more." He said: "If you do wrong, do good." He said: "O Prophet of Allāh, give me more." He said: "Be upright and improve your character." It was recorded by Ibn Ḥibbān (1922) and al-Ḥākim (4/244) from Ḥarmalah ibn ʿImrān al-Tujībī, who reported from Abū al-Samīṭ Saʿīd ibn Abī Saʿīd al-Mahrī, from his father, from ʿAbd Allāh ibn ʿAmr: "that Muʿādh ibn Jabal intended to travel and said: O Messenger of Allāh, advise me." He said, and mentioned it. Al-Ḥākim said: "The isnād is authentic." And al-Dhahabī agreed with him. I say: Its narrators are trustworthy, the narrators of Muslim, except for Saʿīd ibn Abī al-Samīṭ. Ibn Ḥibbān mentioned him in "al-Thiqāt" and Usāmah ibn Zayd also narrated from him, so the ḥadīth is ḥasan, if Allāh wills. Al-Haythamī said (8/23): "It was narrated by al-Ṭabarānī in 'al-Awsaṭ' and it includes ʿAbd Allāh ibn Ṣāliḥ, who was deemed trustworthy by some and weakened by others, and Abū al-Samīṭ Saʿīd ibn Abī Mawlá al-Mahrī, whom I do not know." Part of it has a supporting narration from the ḥadīth of Muʿādh, which I have recorded in the other book (2730).

"If any of you is stubborn in an oath concerning his family, it is more sinful for him before Allāh than the expiation which He has commanded him." It was narrated by Abū Isḥāq al-Ḥarbī in "Gharīb al-Ḥadīth" (5/28/2), who said: Muḥammad ibn Sahl narrated to us, ʿAbd al-Razzāq narrated to us, Maʿmar informed us from Hammām, I heard Abū Hurayrah say: and he mentioned it in a marfūʿ manner
