and the first part of it is supported by a ḥadīth from Ibn ʿAbbās, reported as marfūʿ. It was recorded by Ibn al-Jawzī in "Dhamm al-Hawá" (p. 126).

"when Allāh intends to take the soul of a servant in a land, He makes him have a need in it." It was recorded by Ibn ʿAdī in "al-Kāmil" (vol. 236/2) and Abū Nuʿaym in "al-Ḥilyah" (8/374) from ʿUbayd Allāh ibn Abī Ḥumayd from Abū al-Milīḥ from Abū ʿAzzah al-Hudhali—who was a Companion—who said: The Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) said it, and he mentioned it. I said: This ʿUbayd Allāh is abandoned in ḥadīth as the ḥāfiẓ said, but he was followed by Ayyūb from Abū al-Milīḥ ibn Usāmah with it. It was recorded by al-Bukhārī in "al-Adab al-Mufrad" (1282), Ibn Ḥibbān (1815), al-Dūlābī in "al-Kuná" (1/44), and Aḥmad (3/429), and from him by al-Ḥākim (1/42) who said: "Authentic, and its narrators are trustworthy." Al-Dhahabī agreed with him, and it is as they said. It is also supported by a ḥadīth from Maṭar ibn ʿAkāmis al-Sulamī, reported as marfūʿ with it. It was recorded by al-Bukhārī in "al-Tārīkh" (4/1/400) and al-Ḥākim (1/42) through the route of Sufyān al-Thawrī from Abū Isḥāq from him. Al-Ḥākim said: "Authentic according to the criteria of the two Shaykhs," and al-Dhahabī agreed with him, and it is as they said if Abū Isḥāq—who is al-Sabīʿī—heard it from Maṭar, for he used to practice tadlīs. It is also supported by another ḥadīth from Jundub ibn Sufyān who said: The Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) said it, and he mentioned it. It was recorded by al-Ḥākim (1/367) through the route of al-Ḥasan from him. And al-Ḥasan is al-Baṣrī, and he is also a mudallis. Then I saw the ḥadīth narrated by Ayyūb from Abū al-Milīḥ from Usāmah ibn Zayd, reported as marfūʿ with a similar wording. It was recorded by al-Ṭabarānī in "al-Muʿjam al-Kabīr" (1/23/2), narrated to us by Isḥāq ibn Ibrāhīm al-Dabarī, who informed us from ʿAbd al-Razzāq, who informed us from Maʿmar from Ayyūb with it
