and Saʿd, the freedman of Abū Bakrah, was mentioned by Ibn Abī Ḥātim (2/1/99) who said: He narrated from Abū Bakrah! Similarly, Ibn Ḥibbān said in "al-Thiqāt" (1/107)! As for al-Bukhārī, he mentioned him in "al-Tārīkh" (2/2/55) correctly, saying: He narrated from ʿUbayd Allāh ibn Abī Bakrah. There is a supporting narration from Abū Hurayrah with a similar meaning, which I have previously documented (978). It came with another wording: "Whoever severs family ties or swears a false oath will see its consequences before they die."
وسعد مولى أبي بكرة، أورده ابن أبي حاتم (٢ / ١ / ٩٩) وقال: روى عن أبي بكرة! وكذا قال ابن حبان في "الثقات" (١ / ١٠٧)! وأما البخاري فأورده في "التاريخ" (٢ / ٢ / ٥٥) على الصواب فقال: روى عن عبيد الله بن أبي بكرة. وللحديث شاهد من حديث أبي هريرة نحوه وقد خرجته فيما مضى (٩٧٨). وجاء بلفظ آخر وهو: "من قطع رحما أو حلف على يمين فاجرة رأى وباله قبل أن يموت".
- "Whoever severs family ties or swears a false oath will see its consequences before they die." Al-Bukhārī mentioned it in "al-Tārīkh" (3/2/207) saying: 1 - Hishām al-Dastawāʾī said: from Yaḥyá ibn Abī Kathīr from ʿUmar from a man of the Anṣār from al-Qāsim ibn ʿAbd al-Raḥmān, the freedman of Yazīd ibn Muʿāwiyah, from the Prophet (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) and mentioned it. 2 - And Sulaymān ibn Bilāl said: from Ibn ʿAlāthah from Hishām ibn Ḥassān from Yaḥyá ibn Abī Kathīr from Abū Salamah ibn ʿAbd al-Raḥmān from his father from the Prophet (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) similarly. 3 - And al-Nufaylī said: from Abū al-Dahmāʾ from Muḥammad ibn ʿAmr from Abū Salamah from Abū Hurayrah (raḍiya Allāhu ʿanhu) from the Prophet (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) similarly. Al-Bayhaqī also narrated it (10/35) through the route of Abū Ḥanīfah from Yaḥyá ibn Abī Kathīr from Mujāhid and ʿIkrimah from Abū Hurayrah in a marfūʿ form. Then he mentioned the disagreement regarding Yaḥyá and said: "The ḥadīth is well-known for being mursal." His statement has been previously mentioned under ḥadīth (978) and it is similar in meaning, so refer to it. The ḥadīth, with all its chains, is authentic.
- "من قطع رحما أو حلف على يمين فاجرة رأى وباله قبل أن يموت". علقه البخاري في "التاريخ" (٣ / ٢ / ٢٠٧) قال: ١ - قال هشام الدستوائي: عن يحيى بن أبي كثير عن عمر عن رجل من الأنصار عن القاسم بن عبد الرحمن مولى يزيد بن معاوية عن النبي ﷺ فذكره. ٢ - وقال سليمان بن بلال: عن ابن علاثة عن هشام بن حسان عن يحيى ابن أبي كثير عن أبي سلمة بن عبد الرحمن عن أبيه عن النبي ﷺ نحوه. ٣ - وقال النفيلي عن أبي الدهماء عن محمد بن عمرو عن أبي سلمة عن أبي هريرة ﵁ عن النبي ﷺ نحوه. وأخرجه البيهقي (١٠ / ٣٥) من طريق أبي حنيفة عن يحيى بن أبي كثير عن مجاهد وعكرمة عن أبي هريرة مرفوعا. ثم ذكر الخلاف فيه على يحيى ثم قال: "والحديث مشهور بالإرسال". وقد سبق حكاية كلامه تحت الحديث (٩٧٨) وهو بمعنى هذا فراجعه. والحديث بمجموع طرقه صحيح.
- "Guard your tongue. May your mother be bereaved of you, Muʿādh! Is there anything that topples people on their faces except their tongues?" Al-Suyūṭī mentioned it in this manner in "Dhail al-Jāmiʿ al-Ṣaghīr" (Q 8/2) from the narration of al-Kharāʾiṭī in "Makārim al-Akhlāq" from al-Ḥasan in a mursal form, and it is in "Musnad Aḥmad" (5/231) through the route of Abū Wāʾil from Muʿādh ibn Jabal who said:
