3 - Ibn Lahīʿah informed me from ʿAbd Allāh ibn Hubayrah from Abū ʿAbd al-Raḥmān al-Maʿāfirī from ʿAbd Allāh ibn ʿAmr ibn al-ʿĀṣ with a similar narration. I said: These are three isnāds, the first and the third of which are authentic, as all their narrators are trustworthy. Abū al-Ḥuṣayn's name is al-Haytham ibn Shafī al-Miṣrī. Its apparent form is mawqūf, but the third one was reported by Ibn al-Sunnī in "ʿAmal al-Yawm wa-al-Laylah" (287) through the path of Ibn Wahb as marfūʿ and added: "They said: What is the expiation for that, O Messenger of Allāh? He said: One of them should say: 'O Allāh, there is no omen except Your omen, no good except Your good, and there is no deity other than You.'" Likewise, it was reported by Aḥmad (2/220) who said: Ḥasan narrated to us, Ibn Lahīʿah narrated to us with it. Al-Haythamī said in "al-Majmaʿ" (5/105): "Aḥmad and al-Ṭabarānī narrated it, and in it is Ibn Lahīʿah, and his ḥadīth is ḥasan but has weakness, and the rest of its narrators are trustworthy." I said: The weakness in Ibn Lahīʿah's ḥadīth is only in the narrations other than those of the ʿAbādilah from him; otherwise, their ḥadīth from him is authentic as verified by the scholars in his biography, among them ʿAbd Allāh ibn Wahb, who narrated it from him as you have seen, and this is one of the benefits of this book. All praise is due to Allāh, through whom righteous deeds are completed. I said: It should be noted in the commentary on "Fatḥ al-Majīd" where the ḥadīth was attributed to Aḥmad, then criticized due to Ibn Lahīʿah, misleadingly suggesting the ḥadīth is weak! As for the second isnād, it is weak because ʿImrān ibn ʿAbd al-Raḥmān ibn Sharḥabīl and Abū Khurāsh al-Ḥimyarī were mentioned by Ibn Abī Ḥātim (2/1/301) and (4/2/367) without any criticism or endorsement. The ḥadīth has a supporting narration from Ruwayfiʿ ibn Thābit as marfūʿ. Al-Haythamī said in "al-Majmaʿ" (5/105): "It was narrated by al-Bazzār, and in it is Saʿīd ibn Asad ibn Mūsá, who was narrated from by Abū Zurʿah al-Rāzī, and no one weakened him, and his teacher al-Bazzār Ibrāhīm is not attributed, and the rest of its narrators are trustworthy."
