and the freedmen of Quraysh and the freedmen of Thaqīf are allies of one another in this world and the Hereafter." This was narrated by al-Ṭabarānī in "al-Kabīr" (1/232/2): ʿAlī ibn ʿAbd al-ʿAzīz narrated to us, Abū Ḥudhayfah informed us, Sufyān narrated from Salamah ibn Kuhayl from Abū Wāʾil from Jarīr as a marfūʿ ḥadīth. I say: This is an authentic chain of narration; its narrators are trustworthy, the narrators of al-Bukhārī, except for ʿAlī ibn ʿAbd al-ʿAzīz, who is trustworthy and is al-Ḥāfiẓ al-Baghawī. It was also narrated by Abū Yaʿlá (241/2), Ibn Ḥibbān (2287), al-Ṭabarānī (1/233/1 and 3/76/2), Ibn ʿAdī (158/1), Ibn Makhlad in "al-Muntaqá min Aḥādīthih" (2/87-88), and al-Muẓaffar Abū Saʿīd in "Fawāʾid Muntaqāh" (131/2) through two chains from ʿĀṣim from Abū Wāʾil with it. And this is a good chain of narration. Then it was narrated by al-Ṭabarānī (233/2) from al-Ḥajjāj from al-Ḥakam from Abū Wāʾil with it in abridged form. Al-Ḥajjāj is Ibn Arṭāʾah, and he is trustworthy, but he is a mudallis and has narrated it with ʿanʿanah. Another route: Then it was narrated by Ibn Wahb in "al-Jāmiʿ" (p. 5), al-Ṭabarānī (1/243/2), and Abū Nuʿaym in "Akhbār Aṣbahān" (1/145-146 and 2/304) from al-Thawrī from al-Aʿmash from Mūsá ibn ʿAbd Allāh ibn Yazīd from ʿAbd al-Raḥmān ibn Hilāl from Jarīr with it, and added: "and the Anṣār." Shurayk contradicted him, saying: from al-Aʿmash from Tamīm ibn Salamah from ʿAbd al-Raḥmān ibn Hilāl with it. But Shurayk has poor memory. And the ḥadīth has a supporting narration from Jābir as a marfūʿ ḥadīth with it. It was narrated by Ibrāhīm ibn Ṭahmān in "al-Mashīkhah" (250), and in it is al-Ḥasan ibn ʿUmārah, who is abandoned.
