- "Indeed, Allāh is with the debtor until he pays off his debt, as long as it is not in something Allāh dislikes." Narrated by al-Dārimī (2/263), Ibn Mājah (2/75), al-Ḥākim (2/23), and Abū Nuʿaym in "al-Ḥilyah" (3/204), and Ibn ʿAsākir (9/36/1) through the route of Muḥammad ibn Ismāʿīl ibn Abī Fudayk: Saʿīd ibn Sufyān, the client of the Aslamites, narrated to us from Jaʿfar ibn Muḥammad from his father from ʿAbd Allāh ibn Jaʿfar who said: The Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) said.... They all added except for al-Ḥākim: "He said: ʿAbd Allāh ibn Jaʿfar used to say to his treasurer: Go and take a loan for me, for I dislike to spend a night except that Allāh is with me, after I heard from the Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam)." He mentioned the ḥadīth and al-Ḥākim said: "Its isnād is authentic," and al-Dhahabī agreed with him. In "al-Zawāʾid," it is said: "Its isnād is authentic." Al-Mundhirī (3/36) said: "Its isnād is ḥasan." They said so! Its narrators are those of the authentic collections except for Saʿīd ibn Sufyān, about whom al-Dhahabī said in "al-Mīzān": "He is scarcely known, but Ibn Ḥibbān strengthened him."
