- "The saddles of riding animals are only set out for three mosques: the Sacred Mosque, this mosque of mine, and Al-Aqsa Mosque." It was recorded by Abū Yaʿlá in his "Musnad" (p. 306/1): Muḥammad ibn al-Minhāl narrated to us, Yazīd ibn Zurayʿ narrated to us, Rūḥ narrated from Zayd ibn Aslam from Saʿīd ibn Abī Saʿīd al-Maqburī: "That Abū Baṣrah Jamīl ibn Baṣrah met Abū Hurayrah while he was coming from (Mount Sinai), and said: If I had met you before you went there, you would not have gone, for I heard the Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) say": and he mentioned it. I said: This isnād is authentic; all its narrators are trustworthy, and it meets the criteria of the two Shaykhs [al-Bukhārī and Muslim] if Muḥammad ibn al-Minhāl is the Tamīmī ḥāfiẓ. In his generation, there is Muḥammad ibn al-Minhāl al-Baṣrī al-Anmāṭī, the brother of al-Ḥajjāj, who is unanimously considered trustworthy, and both narrate from Yazīd ibn Zurayʿ, and Abū Yaʿlá narrates from them. The ḥadīth is in the "Ṣaḥīḥayn" and other sources from Abū Hurayrah with the wording "Do not set out on a journey," and I have included it in "Irwāʾ al-Ghalīl" (no. 951). I have only included it here for this addition, which includes Abū Baṣrah's disapproval of Abū Hurayrah's journey to Mount Sinai, and there are other routes I have mentioned there. When I came across this route, I wanted to record it here, as I had previously missed it. This addition contains an important benefit, which is that the narrator of the ḥadīth, the noble Companion Abū Baṣrah (raḍiya Allāhu ʿanhu), understood from the Prophet (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) that the prohibition includes places other than the three mosques, such as Mount Sinai, where Allāh spoke to Mūsá directly. Therefore, he disapproved of Abū Hurayrah's journey there and said: "If I had met you before you went there, you would not have gone," and Abū Hurayrah agreed with him on that
