and it is a good chain of narration; all its narrators are trustworthy. There is some discussion about ʿAbd al-Raḥmān ibn al-Ḥārith and his teacher Sulaymān ibn Mūsá al-Ashdaq, but their ḥadīth does not fall below the level of ḥasan, especially since it has come through other routes, one of which is mentioned here. The second [narration] is from Yaʿlá ibn Shaddād from ʿUbādah, which is the one before it. The third [narration] is from Abū Bakr ibn ʿAbd Allāh ibn Abī Maryam and Yaḥyá ibn Abī Kathīr from Abū Salām with a more complete wording, and it will come later (1972) with the wording: "Indeed, this is from your spoils." Abū Salām also narrated this story from ʿAmr ibn ʿAbasah, who said: "The Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) prayed with us towards a camel, and when he finished, he took a hair from the side of the camel and said: 'It is not lawful for me from your spoils even this much, except for the fifth, and the fifth is returned to you!'" Abū Dāwūd narrated it (1/433): al-Walīd ibn ʿUtbah narrated to us, al-Walīd narrated to us, ʿAbd Allāh ibn al-ʿAlāʾ narrated that he heard Abū Salām ibn al-Aswad say: I heard ʿAmr ibn ʿAbasah. And this is a sound chain; its men are those of the authentic collections, except for al-Walīd ibn ʿUtbah, who is trustworthy. His teacher al-Walīd is Ibn Muslim. Abū Salām has another chain for it. Al-Dūlābī said in "al-Kuná" (2/163): Aḥmad ibn Shuʿayb informed me from Muḥammad ibn Wahb, who said: Muḥammad ibn Salamah narrated to us, saying: Abū ʿAbd al-Raḥīm narrated to me, saying: Manṣūr al-Khūlānī narrated to me from Abū Yazīd Ghaylān from Abū Salām from al-Miqdām ibn Kaʿb (a blank space) Maʿd Yakrib from al-Ḥārith ibn Muʿāwiyah from ʿUbādah ibn al-Ṣāmit: "That the Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) prayed towards a camel from the division, and when he finished, he took a tuft between his fingers, which was a hair, and said: 'Indeed, this is from your spoils and I have nothing from it except the fifth, and the fifth is returned to you.'"
