I said: This isnād is acceptable for supporting evidence. Ismāʿīl ibn ʿAyyāsh is reliable, but he is weak in narrating from the people of Madīnah, and this is one of those cases, as this ʿUthmān is from Madīnah. Ibn Abī Ḥātim mentioned him (3/1/156) without any criticism or praise, but noted that a group of reliable narrators reported from him. Fourth: Ibn al-Mubārak also said (620): Ḥurayth ibn al-Sāʾib al-Asadī informed us, saying: al-Ḥasan narrated to us that the Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) said: and he mentioned it. I said: This isnād is mursal and has a good chain. Al-Ḥasan is al-Baṣrī, and Ḥurayth was described by al-Ḥāfiẓ as "truthful but makes mistakes, from the seventh generation."
