"The believers are gentle and lenient like a domesticated camel which, if tied, complies, and if driven, follows, and if made to kneel on a rock, kneels." Narrated by al-ʿUqaylī in "al-Ḍuʿafāʾ" (214) from ʿAbd Allāh ibn ʿAbd al-ʿAzīz ibn Abī Rawād from his father from Nāfiʿ from Ibn ʿUmar as a marfūʿ ḥadīth, and he said: "It has no reliable origin, ʿAbd Allāh ibn ʿAbd al-ʿAzīz's ḥadīths are strange and not preserved, he is not one who establishes ḥadīth, among them." Then he mentioned two ḥadīths, this being one of them. Abū Ḥātim and others said: "His ḥadīths are objectionable," and Ibn al-Junayd said: "He is worth nothing, he narrates false ḥadīths." (Note) Thus in al-ʿUqaylī it is "alif," and in "al-Jāmiʿ al-Ṣaghīr" it is "anif" with a nūn instead of lām. It is said in "al-Nihāyah": "Meaning the one whose nose is cut, which is the camel whose nose has been injured, so it does not resist its leader due to the pain it has, and it is said: the docile one." Then I found it in "Musnad al-Quḍāʿī" (4/2/2/1) as in "al-Jāmiʿ," he extracted it from the mentioned source. It was also narrated as a mursal ḥadīth by Ibn al-Mubārak in "al-Zuhd": Saʿīd ibn ʿAbd al-ʿAzīz informed us from Makhūl who said: The Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) said it, and he mentioned it
