It was recorded by Aḥmad (3/245). Ḥammād ibn Salamah also followed him, except that he omitted ʿUmar from the chain and made it from the Musnad of Jābir. It was recorded by Abū ʿUbayd in "al-Amwāl" (nos. 270, 271). The correct version is the first one, and Sufyān al-Thawrī also narrated it with the wording: "If I live, I will surely expel," and it will come, if Allāh wills, under no. 1134. The ḥadīth was recorded by al-Ṭaḥāwī in "al-Mushkil" (4/12) from Ibn Jurayj and Sufyān. It has another route recorded by al-Mukhliṣ in "al-Fawāʾid al-Muntaqāh" (9/204/1): ʿAbd Allāh (meaning al-Baghawī) narrated to us, saying: Muḥriz (meaning Ibn ʿAwn) narrated to us, al-Qāsim ibn Muḥammad narrated to us from ʿAbd Allāh ibn Muḥammad from Jābir from ʿUmar with it. I say: This chain is good, its men are reliable, except that ʿAbd Allāh ibn Muḥammad, who is Ibn ʿAqīl, has some discussion about him, but his ḥadīth does not fall below the level of ḥasan.

- "The merciful are shown mercy by the Most Merciful ﵎. Be merciful to those on the earth, and the One in the heaven will be merciful to you. (The womb is a connection from the Most Merciful; whoever maintains it, Allāh will maintain him, and whoever cuts it off, Allāh will cut him off)." It was narrated by Abū Dāwūd (4941), al-Tirmidhī (1/350), Aḥmad (2/160), al-Ḥumaydī (591), and al-Ḥākim (4/159) who authenticated it, and al-Dhahabī agreed with him, as did al-Khaṭīb in "al-Tārīkh" (3/260) and Abū al-Fatḥ al-Kharqī in "al-Fawāʾid al-Multaqaṭah" (222-223), all from Sufyān ibn ʿUyaynah from ʿAmr ibn Dīnār from Abū Qābūs, the freed slave of ʿAbd Allāh ibn ʿUmar, in a marfūʿ form.
