and Shuʿbah also followed him from Qatādah with it and said: "the seat of the devil." It was recorded by al-Shāfiʿī. The ḥadīth was authenticated by Aḥmad and Ibn Rāhawayh, as al-Marwazī said in "Masāʾil ʿanhumā" (p. 223): "I said: Is it disliked for a man to sit between the shade and the sun? He said: (meaning Aḥmad) This is disliked, is it not forbidden? Isḥāq said: The prohibition from the Prophet (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) has been authenticated." The ḥadīth has a supporting narration reported by Miqdām ibn Dāwūd, narrated to us by ʿAbd Allāh ibn Muḥammad ibn al-Mughīrah, narrated to us by Sufyān al-Thawrī, narrated to us by Muḥammad ibn al-Munkadir from Jābir as a marfūʿ ḥadīth with it. It was recorded by Ibn ʿAdī in "al-Kāmil" (221/2) and he said: "I do not know anyone who narrates it from al-Thawrī except ʿAbd Allāh ibn Muḥammad, and most of his ḥadīths are not followed up by others, and despite his weakness, his ḥadīth is written." I said: He is accused of fabricating, so his testimony is not to be rejoiced in! Moreover, the narrator from him, Miqdām ibn Dāwūd, is very weak. There is a better supporting narration than his, reported by Abū al-Munīb from Ibn Buraydah from his father as a marfūʿ ḥadīth with it, except for the phrase: "the seat of the devil." It was recorded by Ibn Mājah (3722). I said: Its isnād is good as al-Būṣīrī said in "al-Zawāʾid" (Q 249/1-2).
وتابعه شعبة عن قتادة به وقال: " مقعد الشيطان ". أخرجه الشافعي. والحديث صححه أحمد وابن راهويه، فقال المروزي في " مسائله عنهما " (ص ٢٢٣) : " قلت: يكره أن يجلس الرجل بين الظل والشمس؟ قال: (يعني أحمد) هذا مكروه أليس قد نهى عن ذا؟ قال إسحاق: قد صح النهي فيه عن النبي ﷺ ". وللحديث شاهد يرويه مقدام بن داود حدثنا عبد الله بن محمد بن المغيرة حدثنا سفيان الثوري حدثنا محمد بن المنكدر عن جابر مرفوعا به. أخرجه ابن عدي في " الكامل " (٢٢١ / ٢) وقال: " لا أعلمه يرويه عن الثوري غير عبد الله بن محمد وأحاديثه عامتها مما لا يتابع عليه ومع ضعفه يكتب حديثه ". قلت: هو متهم بالوضع، فلا يفرح بشهادته! على أن الراوي عنه المقدام بن داود ضعيف جدا. وله شاهد أحسن حالا منه يرويه أبو المنيب عن ابن بريدة عن أبيه مرفوعا به دون قوله: " مقعد الشيطان ". أخرجه ابن ماجه (٣٧٢٢). قلت: وإسناده حسن كما قال البوصيري في " الزوائد (ق ٢٤٩ / ١ ـ ٢).
