zayd ibn ʿAlī, to whom the Zaydīyah are attributed, is considered obscure and has not been authenticated by anyone. The ḥāfiẓ said: "Acceptable." Those above him are trustworthy, from the men of Muslim. The ḥadīth was mentioned by al-Mundhirī in "al-Targhīb" (2/11) from the ḥadīth of Sahl, and he said: "It was narrated by al-Ṭabarānī in 'al-Awsaṭ' with a good isnād." al-Munāwī said about the ḥāfiẓ Ibn Ḥajar: "There was a difference of opinion between two ḥāfiẓs, who took two contradictory paths. al-Ḥākim authenticated it, while Ibn al-Jawzī weakened it. The correct view is that it should not be judged as authentic or fabricated. If Zāfir had been followed up, it would have been good, but al-ʿIrāqī decisively stated in 'al-Radd ʿalá al-Ṣaghānī' and al-Mundhirī in 'Targhīb' that it is good." I said: This is the correct view indicated by the totality of these paths, and Allāh knows best.
- "The best gatherings are the most spacious." It was narrated by al-Bukhārī in "al-Mufrad" (1136), Abū Dāwūd (4820), al-Ḥākim (4/269), Aḥmad (3/18/69), and ʿAbd ibn Ḥumayd in "al-Muntakhab min al-Musnad" (108/1), and al-Qaḍāʿī (100/1) through the route of ʿAbd al-Raḥmān ibn Abī al-Mawāl from ʿAbd al-Raḥmān ibn Abī ʿAmrah al-Anṣārī who said: Abū Saʿīd announced a funeral among his people, and it seemed as if he delayed until the people took their seats. Then he came, and when the people saw him, they made room for him, and some of them stood up to sit in his place. He said: I heard the Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) say: (he mentioned it), then he moved aside and sat in a spacious place. I said: This isnād is authentic according to the criteria of al-Bukhārī, as al-Ḥākim said, and regarding ʿAbd al-Raḥmān, there is some discussion that does not harm, the ḥāfiẓ said:
