"I was with the Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam)," and similarly, the narration of Ibn Abī Ḥātim from Ibn Abī Fudayk from more than one person, in which it is said: "I was sitting with the Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam)." Likewise, the narration of Mūsá ibn Ayyūb from Ibn Abī Fudayk, as mentioned in "al-Iṣābah," and he said after it: "This implies the confirmation of his companionship." I say: this is what we favor. And if you understand this, then the isnād, in my view, is authentic as al-Ḥākim said, because al-Saʿdī was not alone in this; rather, he was followed by a group, among them ʿAmr ibn Abī ʿAmr, who is trustworthy.
