"Al-Ḥasan and al-Ḥusayn are the leaders of the youth of Paradise." This is reported from the ḥadīth of Abū Saʿīd al-Khudrī, Ḥudhayfah ibn al-Yamān, ʿAlī ibn Abī Ṭālib, ʿUmar ibn al-Khaṭṭāb, ʿAbd Allāh ibn Masʿūd, ʿAbd Allāh ibn ʿUmar, al-Barāʾ ibn ʿĀzib, Abū Hurayrah, Jābir ibn ʿAbd Allāh, and Qurrah ibn Iyās. 1 - As for the ḥadīth of Abū Saʿīd, it is narrated by ʿAbd al-Raḥmān ibn Abī Nuʿm from him, who said: The Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) said it, and he mentioned it. It was recorded by al-Tirmidhī (4/339), al-Ḥākim (3/166-167), al-Ṭabarānī (1/123/1), Abū Nuʿaym in "al-Ḥilyah" (5/71), al-Khaṭīb in "al-Tārīkh" (4/207 and 11/90), Aḥmad (3/3, 62, 64, 80, 82), and Ibn ʿAsākir (18-47-1) through various chains from him, and al-Tirmidhī said: "A ḥasan ṣaḥīḥ ḥadīth." I say: It is as he said, for Ibn Abī Nuʿm is trustworthy and was relied upon by the two Shaykhs. Aḥmad added in his narration: "And Fāṭimah is the leader of their women except for Maryam bint ʿImrān." In its chain is Yazīd ibn Abī Ziyād, who is the Hāshimī, their client from Kūfah. Al-Ḥāfiẓ said: "Weak, he grew old and his memory changed, he began to be prompted, and he was a Shīʿī."
