- "Acquire sheep, for they contain blessings." Narrated by Abū Bakr al-Muqriʾ in "al-Fawāʾid" (1/113/1) and al-Khaṭīb (7/11) through two chains from Hishām ʿUrwah from ʿĀʾishah that the Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) said to Umm Hāniʾ: and he mentioned it. This is an authentic chain according to the criteria of al-Bukhārī and Muslim. It was also narrated by Ibn Mājah (2304) through a third chain from Hishām ibn ʿUrwah from his father from Umm Hāniʾ that the Prophet (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) said to her: "Acquire sheep, for they contain blessings." It is stated in "al-Zawāʾid" (Q 142/1): "Its chain is authentic, and its narrators are trustworthy." I say: It is as he said. There is a fourth chain with al-Khaṭīb (8/202) from Ḥafṣ ibn ʿUmar—known as al-Kufr—who narrated to us from Hishām ibn ʿUrwah, and its wording is: "O Umm Hāniʾ, acquire sheep, for they go out and return with goodness." I mentioned it in the biography of this Ḥafṣ, and no criticism or endorsement was mentioned about him, but there is another chain in the "Musnad" (6/343) from Umm Hāniʾ herself, with the wording of Ḥafṣ mentioned. It includes Mūsá or someone named ʿAbd al-Raḥmān ibn Abī Rabīʿah, whom no one has authenticated. In "al-Majmaʿ" (4/66): "Narrated by Aḥmad, and it includes Mūsá ibn ʿAbd al-Raḥmān ibn Abī Rabīʿah, whom I do not know."
