in Allāh, but if you are a people who fear cowardice within yourselves, then clarify that, for it is an excuse for you before Allāh. They said: "Move away from us, O Saʿd! By Allāh, we will never abandon this pledge nor will we ever strip it away." He said: "So we went to him and pledged allegiance to him, and he took from us a condition: and he promised us Paradise for that." I said: And this isnād is authentic according to the criteria of Muslim, and Abū al-Zubayr explicitly mentioned narrating it in some of the paths from him. Al-Ḥāfiẓ Ibn Kathīr said in his history "al-Bidāyah wa-al-Nihāyah" (3/159-160): "It was narrated by Aḥmad and al-Bayhaqī, and this isnād is good according to the criteria of Muslim, but they did not include it." Then I saw it in "al-Mustadrak" (2/624-625) from the mentioned perspective, and he said: "Authentic isnād, comprehensive for the pledge of al-ʿAqabah." And al-Dhahabī agreed with him. Then he narrated a small portion and al-Dhahabī confirmed it. From its end from another path from Jābir with it. And he said: "Authentic according to the criteria of Muslim."
على الله، وإما أنتم قوم تخافون من أنفسكم جبينة فبينوا ذلك، فهوعذر لكم عند الله. قالوا: أمط عنا يا سعد! فو الله لا ندع هذه البيعة أبداولا نسلبها أبدا. قال: فقمنا إليه فبايعناه، فأخذ علينا وشرط: ويعطيناعلى ذلك الجنة ". قلت: وهذا إسناد صحيح على شرط مسلم، وقد صرح أبو الزبير بالتحديث في بعضالطرق عنه، وقال الحافظ ابن كثير في تاريخه " البداية والنهاية "(٣ / ١٥٩ - ١٦٠) :" رواه أحمد والبيهقي، وهذا إسناد جيد على شرط مسلم، ولم يخرجوه ". ثم رأيته في " المستدرك " (٢ / ٦٢٤ - ٦٢٥) من الوجه المذكور، وقال:" صحيح الإسناد، جامع لبيعة العقبة ". ووافقه الذهبي. ثم روى قطعة يسيرةوأقره الذهبي. من آخره من طريق أخرى عن جابر به. وقال:" صحيح على شرط مسلم ".
