it is well-known in the science of terminology. On this basis, the ḥadīth of Ḥudhayfah is a strong corroboration for this narration of Ibn ʿAsākir, and with Allāh is success. Then I found the ḥadīth with al-Akhmīmī in "His Narrations from His Teachers" (2/2/1): Muḥammad (meaning Ibn ʿAbd Allāh ibn Saʿīd al-Mahrānī) narrated to us, Muḥammad ibn Bashshār narrated to us, Yaḥyá ibn Saʿīd narrated to us from Sufyān from Manṣūr from Rubaʿī ibn Ḥirāsh with it, elevated, with the wording: "The last thing that people held onto from the words of prophethood..." the ḥadīth. And its narrators are trustworthy, the narrators of the two Shaykhs, except for this al-Mahrānī, for I did not find a biography for him. However, Abū Nuʿaym produced it in "Akhbār Aṣbahān" (2/78) through the route of al-Ḥasan ibn ʿUbayd Allāh from Rubaʿī ibn Ḥirāsh with a similar version. So these are strong follow-ups for Abū Mālik al-Ashjaʿī, indicating that he preserved it.
