from various chains from Suhayl ibn Abī Ṣāliḥ, from his father, from Abū Hurayrah, who said: The Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) said: and he mentioned it. al-Bayhaqī added in his narration: "Sufyān said: meaning when he acts according to the deeds of his parents." al-Ḥākim said: "Authentic according to the criteria of Muslim." al-Dhahabī agreed with him, and it is as they said. ʿUmar ibn Abī Salamah followed him from his father, from Abū Hurayrah with it. It was recorded by al-Ḥākim and from him by al-Bayhaqī. I say: Its isnād is good for supporting evidence and witnesses. The interpretation of Sufyān mentioned has been narrated as marfūʿ from the ḥadīth of ʿAbd Allāh ibn ʿAbbās and ʿĀʾishah. As for the ḥadīth of Ibn ʿAbbās, it is narrated by Ibn Abī Laylá from Dāwūd ibn ʿAlī from his father from him, who said: The Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) said: "The child of adultery is the worst of the three, when he acts according to the deeds of his parents." It was recorded by Ibn ʿAdī (127/2) and al-Ṭabarānī in "al-Muʿjam al-Kabīr" (3/92/2) and "al-Awsaṭ" (1/183/2) and he said: "No one narrated it from Dāwūd except Ibn Abī Laylá."
