Abū Dāwūd said: he had only one ḥadīth. Then he mentioned this. Ḥākim Abū Aḥmad said: he is not strong according to them. The ḥāfiẓ said in "al-Taqrīb": "weak." He was also followed by ʿAbd al-Raḥmān ibn Muḥammad ibn Abī Bakr ibn Ḥamd ibn ʿAmr ibn Ḥazm from his father from ʿAmrah with it. Without his saying "except the ḥudūd." It was produced by al-Ṭaḥāwī (3/128) and al-ʿUqaylī in "al-Ḍuʿafāʾ" (p. 236) and he said: "It has been narrated with a different isnād, and it also has weakness, and there is nothing established in it." He mentioned it in the biography of this ʿAbd al-Raḥmān, and narrated from al-Bukhārī that he said: "al-Wāqidī narrated wonders from him." I say: al-Wāqidī is accused, so his shaykh should not be criticized for what wonders he narrated from him, and the default is innocence, so nothing should be transferred from it except with proof, and it is as if for this reason the ḥāfiẓ said about him: "accepted." Meaning when followed, and he was followed as you know, so his ḥadīth is accepted. And he was also followed with some disagreement that does not harm, if Allāh wills. Al-Khallāl said in "al-Amr bi-l-Maʿrūf" (Q 5/2): Aḥmad ibn al-Faraj Abū ʿUtbah al-Ḥimṣī informed us, he said: Ibn Abī Fudayk narrated to us, Ibn Abī Dhīʾb narrated from Muḥammad ibn Abī Bakr from his father from his grandfather from ʿUmar in a marfūʿ form with it
