and Ibn Jurayj followed him from Ibrāhīm with it. Ibn Abī Shaybah included it in "al-Muṣannaf" (7/2/1). And Sufyān is Ibn ʿUyaynah. It has also been narrated from him as connected with another isnād. Ibn Shādhān said in "al-Mashyakha al-Ṣughrā" (no. 60 - my copy): Abū al-Fawāris Aḥmad ibn ʿAlī ibn ʿAbd Allāh - the muḥtasib of al-Maṣīṣah from his memory - narrated to us: Abū Bishr Ḥayyān ibn Bishr - the judge of al-Maṣīṣah - narrated to us: Aḥmad ibn Ḥarb al-Ṭāʾī narrated to us: Sufyān ibn ʿUyaynah narrated to us: ʿAmr ibn Dīnār with it. I say: This isnād consists of trustworthy and well-known men from al-Ṭāʾī onwards. As for Ḥayyān ibn Bishr, Abū Ḥātim mentioned him (1/248) from the narration of ʿUmar ibn Shabbah al-Namīrī about him, and he did not mention any criticism or approval. As for Aḥmad ibn ʿAlī Abū al-Fawāris, I did not find a biography for him in the references I have, and I mostly suspect it is in "Tārīkh Ibn ʿAsākir" which I do not have access to now. Ibn ʿUyaynah was not the only one who narrated it. Ibrāhīm ibn Yazīd narrated it from Sulaymān al-Aḥwal and ʿAmr ibn Dīnār from Ṭāwūs from Ibn ʿAbbās who said: "A man came to the Prophet (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) and said: We have an orphan girl and a poor man and a wealthy man have proposed to her. She desires the poor man, and we desire the wealthy man. The Prophet (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) said..." and he mentioned it.
