how can it be when it is contradicted by dozens of texts, one of which is the disagreement of ʿAlī (raḍiya Allāhu ʿanhu) with ʿUthmān ibn ʿAffān regarding the temporary marriage during ḥajj in his caliphate? He did not obey him but rather opposed him openly, as mentioned in "Ṣaḥīḥ Muslim" (4/46) from Saʿīd ibn al-Musayyib who said: "ʿAlī and ʿUthmān (may Allāh be pleased with them) met at ʿUsfān, and ʿUthmān prohibited the temporary marriage or ʿumrah. ʿAlī said: 'What do you want with a matter that the Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) did and you prohibit it?' ʿUthmān replied: 'Leave us alone!' ʿAlī said: 'I cannot leave you alone.' When ʿAlī saw that, he proclaimed both of them together."

- "Indeed, the borrowed item must be returned, the gift must be returned, the debt must be repaid, and the guarantor is liable." It was reported by Imām Aḥmad (5/293): ʿAlī ibn Isḥāq narrated to us, Ibn al-Mubārak informed us, ʿAbd al-Raḥmān ibn Yazīd ibn (in the original: from) Jābir said: Saʿīd ibn Abī Saʿīd told me from someone who heard the Prophet (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) say it, and he mentioned it. I say: This is a sound chain of narration; all its men are trustworthy, the men of the two Shaykhs except for ʿAlī ibn Isḥāq, who is al-Sulamī and is unanimously considered trustworthy, and the anonymity of the Companion does not harm it. Al-Haythamī said (4/145): "And its men are trustworthy." The ḥadīth has a corroborating narration from the route of Ismāʿīl ibn ʿAyyāsh who reported: Sharḥabīl ibn Muslim al-Khawlānī said: I heard Abū Umāmah al-Bāhilī say: I heard the Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) and he mentioned it. It was reported by Aḥmad (5/267) and the authors of the Sunan except al-Nasāʾī, and al-Tirmidhī said (2/252 - Tuhfah): "A good ḥadīth, and in the chapter, there is also from Samurah, Ṣafwān ibn Umayyah, and Anas, and it has also been narrated from Abū Umāmah from the Prophet (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) from other than this route."
