and his statement "and not from an established source" is refuted by the ḥadīth of Kaʿb ibn ʿIyāḍ, as it has no defect, and those we mentioned have authenticated it. Ibn ʿAbd al-Barr also authenticated it as mentioned in "al-Fayḍ."

"Whoever wishes that Allāh respond to him in times of hardship and distress, let him increase his supplication during times of ease." Narrated by al-Tirmidhī (2/244), Ibn ʿAdī (255/1), and ʿAbd al-Ghanī al-Maqdisī in "al-Duʿāʾ" (144-145), as well as Ibn ʿAsākir (3/183/1) from ʿUbayd ibn Wāqid, who reported from Saʿīd ibn ʿAṭiyyah, from Shahr ibn Ḥawshab, from Abū Hurayrah in a marfūʿ form. Ibn ʿAdī said: "Most of what ʿUbayd ibn Wāqid narrates is not corroborated." I said: al-Tirmidhī indicated its weakness by saying: "Gharīb." There is another chain of transmission with al-Ḥākim (1/544), and through him, Ibn al-Najjār in "al-Dhayl" (10/107/1), and with al-Maqdisī from ʿAbd Allāh ibn Ṣāliḥ, who reported from Muʿāwiyah ibn Ṣāliḥ, from Abū ʿĀmir al-Ahlahānī, from Abū Hurayrah. Al-Ḥākim said: "Its isnād is authentic." Al-Bukhārī used Ibn Ṣāliḥ as evidence, and Abū ʿĀmir al-Ahlahānī—I believe he is al-Hawzanī—is trustworthy." Al-Dhahabī agreed with him
