- "Allāh says: Whoever does a good deed will have ten times its like or more, and whoever does an evil deed will have its like as recompense or I may forgive. Whoever commits sins as much as the earth and then meets Me not associating anything with Me, I will grant him forgiveness like it. Whoever comes closer to Me by a handspan, I come closer to him by an arm's length, and whoever comes closer to Me by an arm's length, I come closer to him by a fathom. Whoever comes to Me walking, I come to him running." It was recorded by Muslim (8/67), Ibn Mājah (1/382), Aḥmad (5/153) with this wording, and al-Ṭayālisī (p. 62, no. 464) through two chains from al-Maʿrūr ibn Suwayd from Abū Dharr who said: The Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) said: and he mentioned it. Its chain is authentic according to the criteria of the six [major ḥadīth collections]. Al-Ḥākim also narrated it (4/241) through a third chain from al-Maʿrūr with some abridgment and said: Its chain is authentic. Al-Dhahabī agreed with him.
- " يقول الله ﷿: من عمل حسنة فله عشر أمثالها أو أزيد ومن عمل سيئة فجزاؤها مثلها أو أغفر ومن عمل قراب الأرض خطيئة، ثم لقيني لا يشرك بي شيئا جعلت له مثلها مغفرة ومن اقترب إلي شبرا اقتربت إليه ذراعا ومن اقترب إلي ذراعا اقتربت إليه باعا ومن أتاني يمشي أتيته هرولة ". أخرجه مسلم (٨ / ٦٧) وابن ماجه (١ / ٣٨٢) وأحمد (٥ / ١٥٣) واللفظ له والطيالسي (ص ٦٢ رقم ٤٦٤) من طريقين عن المعرور بن سويد عن أبي ذر قال: قال رسول الله ﷺ: فذكره. وإسناده صحيح على شرط الستة. ورواه الحاكم (٤ / ٢٤١) من طريق ثالث عن المعرور به ببعض اختصار وقال: صحيح الإسناد. ووافقه الذهبي.
- "Whoever memorizes ten verses from the beginning of Sūrah al-Kahf will be protected from the trial of the Dajjāl." It was recorded by Imām Aḥmad (6/449), who said: Rūḥ narrated to us, Saʿīd narrated to us from Qatādah, Sālim ibn Abī al-Jaʿd al-Ghaṭafānī narrated to us from Maʿdān ibn Abī Ṭalḥah al-Yaʿmurī from Abū al-Dardāʾ from the Prophet (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam), who said: and he mentioned it. I say: This is an authentic, connected chain; its men are the men of the two Shaykhs [al-Bukhārī and Muslim], except that al-Bukhārī did not narrate from this Maʿdān. Muslim has also recorded it, as will be mentioned. Saʿīd is Ibn Abī ʿArūbah. A group has followed him. Aḥmad said: Ḥusayn narrated to us in "Tafsīr Shaybān": from Qatādah, Sālim ibn Abī al-Jaʿd narrated it. This Shaybān is Ibn ʿAbd al-Raḥmān al-Tamīmī Abū Muʿāwiyah al-Naḥwī. Then he said: ʿAbd al-Ṣamad and ʿAffān narrated to us, and they said: Hammām narrated to us - ʿAffān said in his narration: Hammām narrated to us, he said: Qatādah used to narrate it to us - he said Sālim ibn Abī al-Jaʿd narrated it
- " من حفظ عشر آيات من أول سورة الكهف عصم من فتنة الدجال ". أخرجه الإمام أحمد (٦ / ٤٤٩) حدثنا روح حدثنا سعيد عن قتادة حدثنا سالم ابن أبي الجعد الغطفاني عن معدان بن أبي طلحة اليعمري عن أبي الدرداء عن النبي ﷺ قال: فذكره. قلت: وهذا إسناد صحيح متصل رجاله رجال الشيخين غير أن البخاري لم يخرج لمعدان هذا. وقد أخرجه مسلم كما يأتي. وسعيد هو ابن أبي عروبة. وقد تابعه جماعة. فقال أحمد: حدثنا حسين في " تفسير شيبان ": عن قتادة حدثنا سالم بن أبي الجعد به. وشيبان هذا هو ابن عبد الرحمن التميمي أبو معاوية النحوي، ثم قال: حدثنا عبد الصمد وعفان قالا: حدثنا همام - قال عفان في حديثه: حدثنا همام قال: كان قتادة يقص به علينا - قال حدثنا سالم بن أبي الجعد به.
